Who Run The World? Girls

For the week that’s in it, we’re taking a look at female focused campaigns that really hit the right notes. Brands who found an insight and created something truly brilliant – not a token pink dress or stereotype in sight. Love it.

You should remember some of these:

  • Sport England & The National Lottery – This Girl Can

Sport England’s campaign to get girls and women to exercise without fear or judgement was simply beautiful. Launched in 2015 with a kick-ass video and broadcast suite of content, women of all shapes and sizes showed the world that no label or physical judgement would create a barrier to living a healthier and more active lifestyle. Over 2.8m women took part in its first two years.

  • Under Armour – I Will What I Want

Sticking with the sport theme, Under Armour took one of the world’s most famous models and highlighted the social commentary associated with her public persona, the same ridiculous misconceptions that revolve(d) around most athletic women. Then they let her beat them up. The “I Will What I Want” series that followed also featured Misty Copeland and Lindsey Vonn

  • UN Women – The Autocomplete Truth

In 2013 if you typed the phrase “Women should” into Google search you will find a terrifying list of auto-completed sentences. UN Women created this phenomenal video that puts a spotlight on the consistent prejudices and discrimination that exist in society.

  • Girls. Girls. Girls. Magazine – Be A Lady

More recently you may have seen this punchy viral sensation starring SATC’s Cynthia Nixon. The video voiced by the actress amplifies the constant pressures society puts on women and the more than conflicting commentary that follows them around.

There are countless other amazing campaigns that we could have chosen, those from the likes of P&G, Always and almost every sportswear brand,  but we’ve selected these because they are etched into our memories. Superb creative throughout.

Let us know your favourites and we’ll add them to the post.
